Why I’m Starting a Patreon Page

--

It’s been a decade since I first went to Haiti at 17 and began to deeply question things — my faith, my education, extreme inequality, human rights, love, justice, governance, and why things are the way they are.

Working with, playing with, (and sometimes feeling crushed by) these subjects has forced me to look deeper and wider for wisdom, knowledge and frameworks for action.

There’s a beautiful video from rockstar Amanda Palmer on community support and its ability to create freedom from the pressure to constantly sell our creations, that inspired me to start a Patreon page.

Though I’m no rockstar, I have been able to generate income through my work, and take design, education, fitness, and coaching clients, and also — this is not what I am here for alone. I desire the space to reflect on and create around the wellspring of unsolvable and generative subjects that actually inspire me to not just make money, but generate the true wealth that is human connection.

Over my years of outer and inner exploration, I have begun to live in the great discomfort of my views and values radically changing, and to hold my grief and anger and amazement and wonder in new ways.

I have never stopped seeking my own path.

I have leaned into a fundamental truth: that nothing is stagnant, and recently had it reflected back to me where I felt truly stuck.

“Look for the crack where the light is coming in” — go there.

That light for me is that I want to lead from my artist space.

I am creating a Patreon to generate financial support for things I want to work on that we don’t have job titles for (yet), and also experience energetic exchange.

I have allowed a vision for a future with more holistic health, artful leadership, erotic love and a thriving earth ecosystem to find me. And I have found it in the midst of fragmentation, stagnancy, and deadness asking to be grappled with.

I want to share forward tools for paving personal and collective paths in this messy unknown, without the pressure of needing to know where to go. I want to hold space to sit in the dark for longer, and look for the subtle cracks where the light peaks in.

Your support will help me stay committed to a process centered in rich collaboration, leaning into unknown, and the striving for new standards in health, wealth and well-being.

In exchange, I’ll uphold the torch of a vision for a better life and future, offer connective spaces, and help your artist lead by inviting rest, reflection and play through a rhythm of monthly visualization/embodiment practices. You’ll also get early access to (and opportunity to give feedback on) my existentialist/evolutionary podcast-in-the-making — At the Same Time.

The Art/Embodiment Playspace will take place every first Saturday of the month starting next week, September 2nd. Recordings will be shared.

Let’s have fun.

Love,

Libby
